The latest Android 13 operating system has just been rolled out. But before the arrival of this new OS version completes a month, the possible time frame for when the Android 14 beta (version) could be released has already surfaced. Not only that, the upcoming Android 14 operating system will support satellite connectivity, Google's senior vice president of platform and ecosystem has claimed. President Hiroshi Lockheimer also confirmed that the tech giant is 'designing for satellite' this next version of Android and will also help Google partners as much as possible to bring the feature.

In an announcement made in August, Tesla CEO and US billionaire Elon Musk said that smartphones connected to T-Mobile's network will be serviced via satellite. Earlier, Apple's iPhone 14 was rumored to have satellite network connectivity. Recently there is talk that Android 14 will also have satellite connectivity.

Hiroshi Lockheimer, Google's senior vice president of platforms and ecosystems, first introduced the issue on social media. There comes the issue of how consumers will use or view smartphones that will connect to satellites. When T-Mobile first introduced the G1 cellphone in 2008, it had problems with 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity. Currently the company is working on satellite connectivity.

Once T-Mobile's service is launched, existing Android and iOS devices will be able to easily join the network. Due to the support of Android 14 operating system, the situation will improve in times of emergency and in places where there is no network.

Smartphone users no longer have to worry about dead zones. Because of the presence of satellites, no matter where they go in the world, there will be a network. It can send messages and make emergency phone calls at any time.

Linking cellphones to satellites is nothing new for Google. Google invested in SpaceX in 2015. The search engine giant originally experimented with providing internet connectivity to remote or disaster-prone areas through balloons.
